Imagination, ingenuity, and a moral code she can live by are her tools.
So much has transpired over the last two centuries in the ancestry of most Americans, whether they lived in North America or elsewhere. Yet often we are woefully ignorant of what has happened in previous generations. The myth of newness has blinded many Americans to the importance of knowing the challenges faced in previous times.
The main character Kit Fraser is a popular columnist writing under the pen name Eva Silvermore, who often makes her points by asking questions, using detached humor and occasionally piercing insight. She has grown up in an America profoundly influenced by her parents’ formative experiences—the Depression of the 1930s and World War II—and her own youth lived in the 1950s and 1960s. In this mini-series Healing Ancestral Mysteries, Kit uncovers, deciphers and integrates some of these important events into her contemporary viewpoint.
A goal of this series is to reorder expectations for a woman from being primarily a “muse and mother” to “person and partner” in all her relations and roles.
While Kit honors the importance of nurturing in women’s lives, she comes, through the course of her investigations, to believe this need to express nurturance is universal and under met.
Empathy and compassion, outgrowths of caring, are actually not gender specific, i.e. female, but rather healthy human responses. Discovering what fosters these important qualities motivates her inquiries. She finds that at the center of her process is recasting the meaning of what it is to be free and to love, cornerstones of any soulful existence.
NOTE: Additional episodes will pursue healing other individual and collective American historical and cultural dilemmas.
